HISTORY
The faculty was established in 2025. It has successfully graduated and inducted three sets of pharmacy graduates: 2019/2020; 2020/2021. 2021/2022. The 2022/2023 academic session graduates are to be inducted on August 29, 2024, by the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria.
The faculty has recently started postgraduate programs (MSc.; M. Pharm; PhD)
MISSION/VISION:
The mission of the faculty is to produce graduates with adequate knowledge and skills to provide professional pharmacy service in the field of healthcare.
The vision is that the pharmacy graduates will possess the requisite scientific knowledge, technological and professional skills that will enable them to compete globally in the field of pharmacy.

I am pleased to inform you that the Vice Chancellor of the University had on March 01, 2024, offered me a sabbatical leave position as well as appointed me the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences. I am immensely grateful to the innovative Vice Chancellor.
I am very happy to be here and wish that the Faculty Staff will assist me in the discharge of my responsibilities as the Dean of the Faculty.
Amongst the various duties as a Dean, I would immensely solicit the co-operation of the Head of Departments in creating enabling environment for students and staff of the faculty in order to achieve optimal performances in their respective aspirations. Therefore, effective, efficient and diligent works of the Head of Departments cannot be over-emphasized.
Finally, I wish to once again thank the Vice Chancellor for the opportunity he has offered me to be in your faculty.
Head of Department/Director:
A lecturer in the Department of Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
I possess Bachelor of Pharmacy degree (B.Pharm.), Master degree (M.Pharm) in Pharmaceutical Analysis and Doctorate degree (PhD) in Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry.
I joined the services of the University of Nigeria as a graduate Assistant in 1984, after one-year of post-graduate internship and one-year of national service (NYSC).
Appointed a postdoctoral fellow (1993) at BayShore Rehabilitation Systems, New Jersey, USA. At the end of the postdoctoral fellowship, I worked as Research Scientist, PTS Laboratories, New Jersey, USA; Senior Analyst, Metuchen Analytical, New Jersey, USA; Inter-laboratory Analyst, Narcotic Division, New York Police Department, USA and Manager, Analytical Services, DMI, Inc, New Jersey, USA.
A registered pharmacist with Pharmacists Council of Nigeria; State Board of Pharmacy New Jersey, USA (1996-2007); a member, Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria; member, National Association of Pharmacists in Academia; member, Who’s Who in the East, 20th Edition, Marquis, 1998; member American Association for the Advancement of Science (1997-2007) and member New York Academy of Sciences (1997-2007).
On my return from United States of America in 2007, I was promoted to the rank of a Professor in 2009.
I have served within the University, as Acting Head as well as Head, Department of Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry, member of University Medical Centre Drug Revolving Fund Committee and several Faculty committees both as chairman and member.
Professor C. J. Mbah has successfully supervised twenty (20) Master degrees candidates, five (5) doctorate degrees (since 2008 following his return from USA) and currently supervising a number of Master and Doctorate degree candidates.
I have also delivered the 89th Inaugural lecture of the University of Nigeria, entitled: “ The Control of Impurities in the Quality Control of Pharmaceutical Dosage Forms” with special emphasis on drug degradants.
Served as Internal Assessor in the University to date; External Examiner and Assessor to a number of Federal and State Universities to date; External Assessor to National Universities Commission (NUC) and chairman (or member) of NUC panelists to accredit Nigerian Universities to date.
