I welcome you to the Faculty of Law, Enugu State University of Science and technology (ESUT).The University is the first University of Technology in Nigeria established in 1980. As part of the University’s vision to be the premier university in Africa in capacity development, it established ESUT Faculty of Law as one of the foremost Law Faculties in Nigeria that promotes services to the society through quality teaching, research and community services.
It is a great pleasure to serve as the Dean of the Faculty. Our commitment in the Faculty is to produce graduates who can provide practical solutions to challenges of the ever dynamic society that we live in. We are also committed to producing graduates who have distinguished themselves in character and learning having inculcated in them, the strength of character, discipline and expertise in legal research and advocacy. We are also committed in raising lawyers who will become future members of the Bench, great political leaders, academia and generally, graduates who are responsive to societal needs and aspirations.
In the Faculty, we offer both Undergraduate and Post-Graduate Programmes. We pride ourselves in legal training tailored towards the best Minimum Standards of the Council of Legal Education as approved by the Nigerian University Commission (NUC). Our commitment to the best teaching model has manifested in our students’ stellar performances in global competitions, debates and even at the Nigerian Law School. This no doubt, is an affirmation and attestation to the high level of learning in the faculty.
In order to produce graduates who can compete favourably with their counterparts in any part of the world, we are gradually departing from the analogue-based system of learning to a digital learning by promoting the use of E-learning, E-Library and other modern learning facilities.
As the chief servant of the faculty, I wish you a great moment while navigating and acquainting yourself with the University environment as well as the programmes of the faculty. We are open to building a favourable relationship with all lovers of scholarship and excellence which is what the faculty represents.

BRIEF HISTORY OF THE FACULTY OF LAW
The Faculty of Law, ESUT started off in 1991/1992 Academic Session. After the creation of Enugu and Anambra States from the old Anambra State in 1991, the Faculty of Law under the old ASUTECH (Anambra State University of Science and Technology) was inherited by the new Anambra State University (which later became Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka). With this development, Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) which is the statutory successor of the former ASUTECH saw a need to commence a new Faculty of Law.
The Faculty started off with a few staff under the Deanship of Professor Nwachukwu C. Okeke in 1991 and graduated its first set of products in 1996/1997 Academic Session. The Faculty had progressively received partial and full accreditation from both the National Universities Commission (NUC) and Council of Legal Education (CLE).
The Faculty has since inception produced numerous notable graduates who are doing well in various sectors of life. Among these include Judges of Higher and Lower Benches, Academics, Parliamentarians and Legal Practitioners in Private practice as well as those in various ministries of justice and policy formations.
MISSION/VISION:
VISION: To elevate ESUT Faculty of Law as the No. 1 center of academic excellence and legal scholarship in Nigeria within the next 10 years.
MISSION: To maintain global competitiveness of our law graduates through migration to digital learning, pursue legal excellence, scholarship and thus develop the reasoning and analytical abilities of our graduates.
