ESUT VC Calls for Sustained Academic Excellence at 46th Inaugural Lecture, describing Inaugural Lecture as "Intellectual harvest"

The Vice-Chancellor of Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), Professor Okolie, has emphasized the need to maintain high academic standards while describing the 46th Inaugural Lecture as an "intellectual harvest."
The event, which took place at the College of Medicine auditorium, featured Professor Uchenna Ekwochi, Provost of ESUT College of Medicine, as the 46th inaugural lecturer. In his opening remarks, Prof. Okolie urged professors in the institution to utilize the Inaugural Lecture platform to showcase their years of research, bridging the gap between town and gown.
The Vice-Chancellor also expressed gratitude to the Governor of Enugu State, represented by the Commissioner for Health, for his unwavering support towards the development of ESUT College of Medicine. He acknowledged the state government’s contributions in advancing medical education and infrastructure in the institution.
In a heartwarming announcement, Prof. Okolie revealed generous donations from members of the university’s governing council to support professors delivering inaugural lectures. The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Chief Sir Chinyeaka Ohaa, pledged ₦1,000,000 (One Million Naira) to each professor who presents an inaugural lecture. Similarly, Engr. Dr. Innocent Akuvie promised a donation of ₦500,000 (Five Hundred Thousand Naira) per lecturer.
The Vice-Chancellor described the gesture as a motivation for academic excellence and research innovation, reinforcing ESUT’s commitment to intellectual growth and community impact.
The 46th Inaugural Lecture, delivered by Prof. Uchenna Ekwochi, highlighted groundbreaking research in medical sciences, drawing commendations from attendees, including academia, government officials, and industry stakeholders.
