Information & Communication Technology Centre
The Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) Information and Communication Technology Centre (ICTC) is a pivotal facility aimed at enhancing digital literacy and technological advancement among students and staff. Established through a collaboration between the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Limited (SNEPCo), the Centre reflects a commitment to educational development in Nigeria.
Situated in a green area behind Fidelity Bank, the ICTC is within walking distance from the ESUT Medical Centre, providing convenient access for the university community.
Main Facility Features:
◉ A one-storey building housing five computer laboratories.
◉ Equipped with 62 computing systems and four smart boards.
◉ Includes a Wi-Fi lounge offering free internet access for research purposes.
◉ Supported by a 100 KVA generator to ensure uninterrupted power supply.
◉ Features a new water supply system to cater to the needs of users.
The Centre was officially handed over to ESUT in November 2020, marking it as one of the 30 ICT projects completed and donated by SNEPCo to educational institutions across Nigeria since 2007.
To further support the university's technological infrastructure, a 500-capacity annex building has been completed through TETFund interventions. This annex is designated for computer-based tests and examinations, aligning with modern educational assessment methods.
The establishment of the ICTC at ESUT underscores the importance of integrating technology into higher education. By providing state-of-the-art facilities and resources, the Centre aims to:
◉ Enhance the digital competencies of students and staff.
◉ Facilitate research and learning through reliable internet access.
◉ Support the administration of computer-based assessments.
◉ Contribute to the overall improvement of educational standards within the university.
This initiative by NNPC and SNEPCo exemplifies a successful public-private partnership focused on educational development and capacity building in Nigeria.
