The Enugu State University of Science and Technology, ESUT, has set up a 12-man Technical Committee to develop a template for the establishment of a functional Parents-Teachers-Students-Association, PTSA.
The Committee which was inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Aloysius-Michaels Okolie, on 8th September, 2022, was given four weeks to submit its reports and recommendations.
The Vice Chancellor who was represented by his Deputy, Professor Chike Nwoha, during the inauguration also charged members of the Committee to co-opt any other staff of the University who can help in achieving the aims and objectives of the Committee.
“I advise that this Committee will liaise with departments and the Deans of Faculties so that they monitor and get information about the students academic performances, so that in their reports, they would be in a position to guide the University Management,” Prof. Nwoha, also charged members of the Committee.
According to a memo signed by the Registrar of ESUT, Mr. Ambrose Ugwu, the Terms of Reference of the Committee include:To develop a template for the establishment of a functional Parents-Teachers-Students-Association that will inculcate character and learning in the students, to collate necessary data of parents/guardians of the students for effective communication, and to initiate the process of giving a dedicated domain to the Association in the University website.
The Chairman of the Committee, Prof. Jude Udenta, while reacting after the inauguration, pledged to deliver on the Terms of Reference of the Committee. Prof. Udenta, therefore, solicited for the cooperation of Deans and Heads of Departments in the University to enable the Committee members have access to necessary data which would help them to achieve the aims and objectives of the Committee.
Other members of the Committee include: Prof. Obasikene J; Deputy Registrar, Records; Prof. E.A Onuorah; Prof. Mishark Nnabuchi; Secretary, SPGS; Deputy Registrar, Establishment.
Others are: Director, ICT Prof. Babatunde Olofin; Dr. S.A.R Ohayi; SUG President; Ag. Director, Public Relations, Mr. Ikechukwu Ezeanioma; and the Secretary of the Committee, Mr. Leonard Khama.
